Immigration and the U.S. Labor Force

My comments on this news:

Mass immigration considered in connection with unemployment suggests a remedy.  Deport all illegal aliens [probably more than 20 million] and enact a 10 –year zero net moratorium on legal immigration. These remedies have been advocated for years by Population-Environment BALANCE, Carrying Capacity Network [CCN] and the ASAP! coalition. They would instantly solve unemployment.

The broadest official government measure of unemployment [U-6] includes some but not all “discouraged workers” – those who have stopped looking for work because of perceiving that jobs are unavailable.  John Williams www.shadowstats.com says that counting discouraged workers according to pre- Clinton administration methods results in an unemployment rate higher than U-6.  He asserts that the real unemployment rate is over 20% .

President Obama has called for ending tax breaks for companies that outsource jobs overseas.  Much more to the point would be deporting illegal aliens, ending automatic citizenship for children born to illegal aliens, and sharply limiting the legal immigration and fraudulent refugee programs.                                                                                         V.
